Best for

A sound, honest kitchen where the budget is better spent on getting the wet zone right than on finish.

Watch out

The specification is decided for you; expect fewer choices in fronts, hardware and internal fittings.

Relative cost

The entry point of the ladder.

Consequential work

Moisture zone still governs — the tier never overrides what a wet area requires.

Best for

The middle of the ladder, where finish and hardware quality start to show daily.

Watch out

Easy to spend here on what shows and under-specify what does not — the carcass matters more than the front.

Relative cost

Above Essential.

Consequential work

Confirm which upgrades are finish and which are construction; they are not the same decision.

Best for

Where the joinery is genuinely bespoke — non-standard dimensions, unusual materials, a specific detail.

Watch out

Bespoke means longer lead time and less margin for a late change; the drawing has to be right.

Relative cost

The top of the ladder.

Consequential work

Requires the fullest drawing set and the earliest freeze on dimensions and appliances.

Cost lines are relative and typical for the illustrated specification. Relative cost names the direct cost drivers, consequential work names what else changes, and watch out names the checks required. Exceptions and site conditions can change any of them. A relative direction, not an amount. Nothing here is a price; the figure belongs to whoever supplies the item and is set after measurement.
