In use
Drip trays and bunding under the sink, water heater and washer catch a slow leak and drain it safely instead of into the cabinet.

Hidden inside the base cabinets; you never see them working.
Leak sensors + auto shut-off
In use
Leak sensors at the wet points trigger an automatic shut-off valve — the strongest protection against a burst while you are away; wiring is planned early.

Raised kerb or shower tray
In use
A kerb or tray holds the water inside a defined shower footprint — the most forgiving approach, because containment does not depend on the floor falls being perfect. The kerb is a trip edge, which matters if anyone in the house is unsteady.

How it looks
A visible step and a clear boundary — honest and practical rather than seamless; the tray reads as a distinct object in the room.
Fixed glass screen
In use
A single fixed panel stops the spray without enclosing anything — nothing to open, nothing to jam, and one pane to squeegee instead of a frame full of seals. Water still reaches the open floor, so the falls have to be right.

How it looks
The lightest visual barrier there is — the room stays one space and the tiling runs uninterrupted behind the glass.
Fully enclosed cubicle
In use
Full enclosure keeps both water and warm air inside, which is the most reliable way to keep the rest of the room genuinely dry. The trade-off is upkeep: seals, tracks and hinges all need cleaning, and they are what eventually fails.

How it looks
A defined glass box within the room — crisp and contained, though it divides the space more firmly than a single panel.
Open curbless wet zone
In use
No kerb, no tray and no threshold — a wheelchair or a walking frame rolls straight in, and there is nothing to trip on. It is also the least forgiving: containment rests entirely on the floor falls and a fully tanked substrate, both set long before the tiles.

How it looks
The most seamless reading available — one continuous tiled floor from door to shower, with no object or edge interrupting it.

Basic wet-area coat
In use
A waterproofing coat to the wet floor — the minimum, but skipping the upstands and the tile-to-wall interface is exactly where Sarawak leaks begin.

How it looks
Hidden under the tile; you only ever see the result, or the failure.
Full membrane + upstands
In use
A full membrane with upstands up the walls, sealed at pipe penetrations and the door threshold — the correctness that keeps water off the structure and the room below.

How it looks
Invisible when done right; the sign of it is a dry ceiling below, for years.
Tanked wet room
In use
The whole wet room is tanked — floor and walls — for a curbless shower or a heavy-use wet kitchen; the most robust against standing water.

How it looks
Enables a seamless, level-threshold wet room with no visible barrier.
