Standard loose seating
In use
Chairs and a low table staff move themselves. Plans around circulation only — no power, no fixing, no floor preparation.

Reads as a soft corner: low, informal, visually quiet against the desking.
High-table collaboration
In use
A standing-height table for short meetings held on the way past. ELS specifies the clear floor around it and whether power is brought to the table top — a table used with laptops and no power becomes a table nobody uses.

A raised horizontal plane that breaks the seated datum of the floor.
Modular agile setting
In use
Reconfigurable pieces staff rearrange for the session in front of them. ELS specifies the clear floor the largest arrangement needs and where the pieces live when they are not in that arrangement — storage is the part that is usually forgotten.

Open focus position
In use
A position within the open floor, separated by distance and orientation rather than by an enclosure. It needs no ventilation, power or door clearance of its own.

Reads as part of the floor, adding no volume.
Enclosed phone booth/pod
In use
A freestanding enclosure for calls and focused work. ELS specifies four dependencies the floor must satisfy before one can be placed: mechanical ventilation, a dedicated power supply, door swing or slide clearance, and the circulation gap around it. Placed without them it is not usable.

Fixed-height desk
In use
One working height, fixed at specification. Simplest to plan around: desk depth, the walkway behind it and pedestal clearance are all constant, so a cluster can be drawn once and repeated across a floor.

How it looks
A level desk line across the cluster, with cable entry in one place.
Electric sit-stand desk
In use
A motorised desktop the user raises and lowers. ELS specifies three things the floor must carry before one can be planned: the vertical travel the layout must clear, a power point at every desk, and the cable slack the route must hold at full extension.

How it looks
A desk line that no longer reads level, because each user sets their own height.
