Common questions

How do renovation materials actually reach Kapit?

Almost everything travels up the Rejang by express or cargo boat from Sibu, so transport shapes the schedule and the sizes that are practical. ELS plans the full material list, quantities and component sizes around boat cargo limits, then coordinates the shipment. That planning is what makes a realistic schedule possible upriver.

What happens if a part is missing or damaged after installation?

Upriver you cannot simply re-order and collect the same day, so ELS plans to avoid it: every count is locked before shipping and a spares kit travels with the main delivery. If something does go wrong, on-hand spares and simple, serviceable fittings mean a general trade can usually fix it without waiting for the next boat.

Can ELS and ALUMAX still work here even though local trades are limited?

Yes. ALUMAX supplies its own products — cabinetry, hardware, aluminium windows, doors, screens and composite panels — the appointed service team installs, and ELS coordinates the trip so that the install happens in one efficient window. Appointed trades handle electrical, plumbing, tiling, ceiling and the rest; ELS recommends their order around the boat and install schedule.

Does the river and its flooding change what I should renovate with?

It does at the low level. Where wet-season water can reach waterfront and low-lying homes and shops, ELS specifies flood-tolerant finishes and raises services and cabinetry carcasses above the vulnerable band. Higher up, the focus shifts to humidity- and monsoon-ready materials that stay stable year-round.
