Hidden flush-door finish

Feature Wall
Hidden flush-door finish — Oak veneer
Oak veneer
Best for
A warm continuous surface where grain continuity hides the opening.
Watch out
Grain matching across a door line needs sequencing at the factory, not on site.
Cost effect
Higher.
Scope effect
Veneer sequencing must be specified; a standard order will not match.
Responsible
Supplied and installed by ALUMAX
Hidden flush-door finish — Paint matched
Paint matched
Best for
The simplest concealment — the door reads as wall.
Watch out
Any movement or settlement shows at the joint, and touch-up paint rarely matches exactly.
Cost effect
The least expensive of the five.
Scope effect
Requires a decided shadow gap or flush tolerance the painter can actually hold.
Responsible
Supplied and installed by ALUMAX
Hidden flush-door finish — Sintered stone
Sintered stone
Best for
A hard, wipeable feature wall where the door is part of a stone-faced plane.
Watch out
Weight is the issue — the leaf and its hardware must be specified for it.
Cost effect
The highest.
Scope effect
Hardware must be sized for the leaf weight; this is an engineering check, not a preference.
Responsible
Supplied and installed by ALUMAX
Hidden flush-door finish — Wallpaper mural
Wallpaper mural
Best for
A graphic wall where the image should run across the opening.
Watch out
The mural must be hung with the door line planned into it; a repair means re-hanging a section.
Cost effect
Moderate.
Scope effect
The door position must be final before the mural is ordered and set out.
Responsible
Supplied and installed by ALUMAX
