Design decision

Lighting, chosen with your style.

Select your ELS style and room — we curate the fittings, finish, light colour and placement as one coordinated composition. No questionnaire unless you need project-specific lighting design.

It's a design brief, not a quote — lighting is ELS-specified and supplied by your electrician (ALUMAX supplies any fitting it makes). Costs read as direction only.

Talk to ELS about the lighting

ELS specifies the lighting design; your electrician supplies and installs it (ALUMAX supplies any fitting it makes). Colour temperature is fixed per collection; cost is confirmed on a site review, never here.

Why lighting is a design decision here

🌞 Twelve hours of flat daylight

Equatorial light arrives overhead and even, so it flatters nothing and models no depth. After dark the room is entirely yours to shape — which is exactly why lighting is a design decision, not a wiring afterthought.

ELS field guidanceELS's own observation across Sarawak homes; the design response, not a measured figure.

🪭 Plan around the ceiling fan

A ceiling fan is non-negotiable here, and a downlight sitting under its sweep throws a strobing blade shadow across the room. Lighting the walls and the task — not the middle of the ceiling — sidesteps the problem entirely.

ELS field guidanceA recurring Sarawak site issue ELS designs around; general lighting behaviour, not a product claim.

🎨 Colour that survives the humidity

Warm timber, food, fabric and skin only read true under high-CRI light — the ELS default is CRI 90+ anywhere seen up close. One colour temperature per connected space keeps warm rooms from turning muddy where two meet.

ELS field guidanceCRI 90+ and single-temperature-per-space are ELS spec targets, not a specific product's rating.
How to read our claims

We grade every strong technical claim by its evidence and review them on a schedule. A manufacturer test is not a design lean — we label which is which rather than dress one up as the other.

Manufacturer-testedA figure the product's maker publishes from their own testing or datasheet.
Industry standardEstablished material science or building practice — not specific to one product.
ELS field guidanceWhat ELS has repeatedly seen on Sarawak sites. Experience, not a lab result.
Design recommendationA judgement about how a space should look or feel. Reasonable people may differ.

Claims last reviewed 2026-07-23. Figures are planning guidance, not warranties — real performance depends on the specific product, its installation and the site's exposure, and is confirmed on the product datasheet and after site measurement.
