Colour that works in Sarawak

Humidity, heat and UV exposure fade some colours faster than others. Our palettes are curated for Sarawak light, heat and humidity, with final coating performance verified against the selected manufacturer's specification. See how your palette pairs with flooring and hardware.

Color selection takes 2–3 minutes. All palettes pair with flooring and hardware choices.

Why colour matters in Sarawak

☀️ UV fading & heat

Tropical sun fades light pastels faster than dark colours, and matte finishes hold tone longer. We recommend a premium paint with UV inhibitors — and confirm the fade and UV rating against the manufacturer's specification.

Design recommendationA general tendency, not a guarantee — real fade depends on exposure, sheen and the paint's UV inhibitors; confirm against the product specification.

💧 Humidity & mildew

High humidity grows mildew on porous surfaces — moisture control and a fungicidal paint matter far more than the colour. Cooler greens and greys simply show early bloom less; the protection is in the coating and the ventilation, not the hue. Specify a fungicidal paint in bathrooms and kitchens.

Design recommendationMildew resistance comes from fungicidal paint, not the colour — the colour part is an aesthetic lean.

🎨 Visual thermal load

Dark walls absorb heat psychologically (& physically in direct sun). Cool palettes (blues, greys, pale greens) reduce the sensation of heat. Light ceilings brighten dark rooms.

Industry standardSolar gain on a dark surface in direct sun is physical; the 'cooler' feel of a cool palette is perceptual.
How to read our claims

We grade every strong technical claim by its evidence and review them on a schedule. A manufacturer test is not a design lean — we label which is which rather than dress one up as the other.

Manufacturer-testedA figure the product's maker publishes from their own testing or datasheet.
Industry standardEstablished material science or building practice — not specific to one product.
ELS field guidanceWhat ELS has repeatedly seen on Sarawak sites. Experience, not a lab result.
Design recommendationA judgement about how a space should look or feel. Reasonable people may differ.

Claims last reviewed 2026-07-23. Figures are planning guidance, not warranties — real performance depends on the specific product, its installation and the site's exposure, and is confirmed on the product datasheet and after site measurement.
